The ‘White Water’ series
“My aim has been to create a visual language that was mine, which allowed a freedom of concepts to be developed with an aesthetic sense readable to the viewer. In a sense this is like walking a tightrope – to create something new that hopefully validates my human worth which is not formula driven. The majority of the works have been inspired by the sea and its environs; they have evolved into a series of works dominant in their intimacy with the viewer. Some reflect my states of introspection, sharing my intensity where the sea is a metaphor for further contemplation. Many of the pieces centre around the chameleon effect in water – always in change; the end product not representative of water in a physical sense but a universal spirituality for the world that surrounds and inhabits our being.”
