Bleeding Heart

Client – St Francie Xavier Primary School, Frankston

Commissioner – Edmond & Corrigan, Architects

Brief – To produce a suspended sculpture related to religious and spiritual ideals of St Francis Xavier Primary School

Materials – Mirrored acrylic mosaic bevelled mirror, mosaic gold mirror, stainless steel, diffraction gratings, collimated light (quartz halogen)

Position – St Francis Xavier Primary School, Dovey Street, Frankston

Technique – Sandblasted designs, cut laminated mirror, laminated engraved to represent clouds suspended by stainless steel wire to move in the wind and create multiple reflective images. Stainless steel tube 25mm TIG welded to successive heart beats making a circle surrounding the interior of the sculpture. 10 diffraction gratings to produce spectra (rainbows) to reflect on the clouds.
